Good News From Nepal, Wed. April 29

Gopal at Podium

Our friend Gopal Tamang, the Colorado Nepal Alliance Nepal Project Coordinator, distributing donated school uniforms in late 2014.

It’s with great relief that we can tell you that our Nepal Coordinator Gopal Tamang and his family are reportedly safe. While we are still eager to hear from him directly– and the condition of countless others and their property is still unknown– we are overjoyed by the news!

Our friend Rajan Simkhada of Earthbound Expeditions passed-along the news in an email to our Executive Director:

Greetings,
Gopal suppose to back tomorrow so I will know more.
One piece of good news is that on sunday some of our guide’s father and neighbour of Gopal came to Dhading Bensi ( 6 hours walk from Darkha) and called his son and said every one is fine. Gopal house is safe , a little damage but no one hurt or injured. So that means Gopal and Fydor both must be safe. I called his son Mr. Dilman who is in Kathmandu now and he shared this message to me. So I am sure they are fine. As far as I have more news I will share with you, but rest assured they should be ok. Take care
- Rajan Simkhada

Gopal is a critical part of the chain that links together our community with the villages in rural Nepal where we work. We couldn’t have accomplished what we have without Gopal, just like we can’t do our work without your help. With the media spotlight trained-on the drama at Everest basecamp and seats of political power, we’re trying to make sure that the villages of rural Nepal and people like Gopal aren’t overlooked during this critical time. Please help us begin to address the rebuilding needs in rural Nepal with a tax-deductible donation to our relief fund:
