About Me

Co-founder and Executive Director

A trip to Nepal in 2003 provided the genesis for Shoes for Sherpas.  I saw an elderly porter carrying a 65 Kg load up a steep and rocky trail in the Annapurna region, wearing flip flops that were about to break.  When my husband Larry and I returned to Nepal in 2012, we decided to collect footwear to distribute to porters we encountered.  Basically, we saw a need, and decided to help, even if in a small way

My Vision

See where you can help.  Then do it.

The Colorado Nepal Alliance is a small organization.  People and communities in Nepal approach us for help.  If we feel we can tackle a need or a problem, at least partly, we’ll give it a go!  We don’t always know what we’re doing, but we learn along the way.  We try not to say “we can’t” but instead, “how do we?”  Committed volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, which has no paid staff.  Their energy and enthusiasm helps make our work possible!
