New Partnership with Italian Footwear Brand, Garmont
Shoes for Sherpas is proud to announce a new partnership with Italian boot manufacturer Garmont. Here’s the press release coming out in a few hours. We are so excited, and feel blessed to be a part of this exciting partnership!
New York, NY (December 10, 2020) – Italian footwear brand, Garmont, is pleased to announce a partnership with non-profit, Shoes for Sherpas, an organization dedicated to providing footwear to Nepali porters and villagers to create a co-branded outdoor boot. Garmont, known for pushing the limits of Italian shoe design, showcases its commitment to adventure through this new philanthropic effort and in continuation of the brand’s #StayWild #HopeWild ethos.
For over 50 years, Garmont has consistently dedicated their efforts to trail side research that results in better performing products incorporating cutting edge materials, functional technologies, and unique innovations into their collections of outdoor shoes. The brand looks to utilize its expertise in footwear innovation to provide the best quality boots for the industrious Sherpa community.
Sherpas are an ethnic group living primarily in the mountainous regions of eastern Nepal. Many make their living as porters in the tourism trade as well as in the day-to-day transport of goods from village to village. While quality footwear is often either unavailable or unaffordable, Shoes for Sherpas looks to provide as much footwear as possible to those living in the region.
Garmont will kick-off the partnership during the holiday season with the launch of a special donation section on their global website where users can make direct donations to the organization.
In the coming year, Garmont and Shoes for Sherpas will continue to expand their partnership with various activities and efforts dedicated to supporting the Sherpas of Eastern Nepal.

ABOUT SHOES FOR SHERPAS
Shoes for Sherpas began as a service project in 2012, and has distributed over 3,000 pairs of footwear to Nepali porters and villagers since its inception. Shoes for Sherpas is a project of Colorado Nepal Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, that partners with villages in rural Nepal. Shoes for Sherpas has distributed footwear in the Solukhumbu (Everest) region, Langtang National Park, and Dhading District.
