Remembrance Ceremony 4/25/2016

Colorado Nepal Alliance is joining with other Colorado-based nonprofits to remember the victims of the April 25, 2015 earthquake.  Join us at the Posner Center for International Development on Monday April 25th.  Doors open at 5pm.  A panel discussion takes place at 6pm discussing the challenges of post-earthquake reconstruction.  The Ceremony of Remembrance begins at 7:15 pm. Event is free and open to the public.  A recommended donation of $7 for Nepali appetizers from Sherpa House restaurant.  Tea and water are free, and there will be a cash bar. Kuri Schoolbuilding Completed!

Colorado Nepal Alliance is proud to announce that the first replacement school building in Kuri (Darkha VDC) has been completed, and school children and their teachers moved in to the building in late March, 2016! The building houses three of the smaller classes.  New tables and benches were supplied, as well as white boards for the teachers. Architect Ajay Magar of Landmark Architectural Design created a school building that uses local materials, but is additionally strengthened with reinforced concrete tie beams at the plinth, sill, and lintel levels.  Local builders were taught by the project overseer to build safer buildings with ...
