Contact with Mingma Nuru Sherpa
This morning we were able to speak with Mingma Nuru Sherpa. Mingma has coordinated multiple shoe distributions for us in the villages of Khumjung and Kunde in the Everest region, just up the hill from Namche Bazaar on the famous Everest Base Camp Trail. Mingma reports that there were no additional injuries after the second earthquake, but that almost all of the homes that were still standing after the first one have now collapsed. People are sleeping outdoors under tarps and tents, and he is currently in Kathmandu trying to procure corrugated tin sheeting in order to build sturdier temporary shelter before the monsoons set in.
